What to include in a pet supplement OEM inquiry
A useful OEM inquiry helps a manufacturer understand the product, market and level of customization before preparing a project-specific quotation. It does not need to disclose confidential formula details in the first message. Share information you are authorized to disclose, then agree how sensitive materials will be handled.
Prepare these six parts of the brief
Target market and sales channel
Name the intended country or region and whether the project is for a brand, distributor or another channel. Market requirements may differ; confirm them with qualified advisers.
Species and intended positioning
State dog, cat or both, the intended life stage if known, and the general nutrition direction. Do not present a diagnosis or treatment claim as a product brief.
Format and serving presentation
Indicate liquid, chewable or powder preference, desired pack size, and any serving-format constraints. Ask the manufacturer to confirm technical feasibility for the specific formula.
Quantity and customization scope
Separate a ready-product/private-label request from a new formula, flavor, label or packaging change. State an initial quantity and a realistic estimate only if you have one.
Artwork and packaging inputs
Identify label languages, artwork status, container or pack preference, and any required carton or shipping presentation. Request the available specifications before finalizing artwork.
Timeline and documents
Give the target sample review and launch dates. List the product specification, label, COA or other project documents you need to review; ask which are available for the exact SKU.

What to confirm in the quotation
Ask the supplier to state the exact SKU or formula scope, sample and production charges if applicable, packaging assumptions, MOQ, lead-time start point, document availability and project-specific payment terms. LANDCE publishes general starting points on its OEM / ODM page; confirm all timing and commercial details for your specific project in writing.
For a related planning sequence, see how to evaluate a liquid pet supplement manufacturer and the packaging and label checklist. To discuss a project, send the brief through the LANDCE inquiry form.
The more clearly the project scope is stated, the easier it is to compare quotations on the same basis. Browse LANDCE product formats.
